Why cant i feel the baby move? and is it ok to get your nails and hair down while pregnant?

depending on how far along you yes you should feel the baby move if the movements are regular then you need to call your dr.

Nails it is perfectly fine to have them done while preggo, but i was always advised against coloring, perming %26amp; bleaching my hair while preggoWhy cant i feel the baby move? and is it ok to get your nails and hair down while pregnant?
Depends on how far along you are. I didn't feel my baby move til around 6 months. I think its safe to get your nails done, I was reading in parents magazine and this is what it says: ';There are a lot of chemicals used in hair dye, but no well-designed studies have found any direct link to birth defects or childhood cancers,'; says Richard Beigi, MD, an assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive sciences at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center.';While you don't want to be exposed constantly, dyeing your hair once or twice is unlikely to be a major problem.'; To be on the safe side, wait till the second or third trimester, when most of baby's major organs have finished developing, or opt for highlights over single-process color. Since highlights aren't applied directly to the scalp, the chemicals are significantly less likely to enter your bloodstream.

I also dyed my hair right when I found out, back to my normal color because I didn't want to have to keep up with my highlights in case it wasn't safe.

I got my nails done, a full set of acrylics once, and i asked the nail tech, and she said it was safe and pregnant women come in and get their nails done all the time. I did it, but just once, because i'm scared anyway. Why cant i feel the baby move? and is it ok to get your nails and hair down while pregnant?
The reason people say not to get your hair done isn't because of damage to the baby, it's because when pregnant your body produces hormones that often render hair dye and perms useless. The chemicals themselves don't enter your body, but either it won't work or you could be exposed to nasty fumes. That's why you're to avoid it.

If you don't feel movement call your doctor. Sometimes babies just run out of room and don't move a lot. Sometimes based on position you can't feel when he is moving. Or, he might be sleeping and moves at night when you don't notice.
ya its ok to get your hair done...just be in a ventilated area...i did my roots a few weeks ago and I'm 9 weeks

If you're like many women, bleaching, dying, or highlighting your hair may be a regular part of your beauty regime. And if you're like most pregnant women, you probably have some hesitation or even a fear about continuing to color your hair while baby is in tow. Although research into the effects of hair coloring on baby's health are still somewhat limited, many experts now contend the dyes are most likely safe and that women needn't be afraid to color their world during pregnancy.

The people who gave me a thumbs down are obviously very ignorant
go to the doctor.
How far along are you? You won't feel baby moving (unless you know what 'quickening' is like...) until 18-20 weeks or so.

Nails are fine...

Hair... No perms, no color, everything else should be ok.
No getting your hair and nails done is a NO NO because the chemicals you breathe in aren't toxic to you, but they are to the baby. Steer clear of nail shops and beauty parlors.
Done. Yes, some people say later in pregnancy you can get it dyed. Or earlier.

If you have not felt your baby move in a day, GO SEE THE DOCTOR.

Drink something sweet and cold and then go to the hospital.
I was told that after you get into your second trimester it is okay to get your hair done but it is not okay to get your nails done at all during pregnancy.
Call your doctor if you can't feel your baby move for over 24 hours, don't ask us, we don't know. Yes you can get your hair done, NOT dyed during pregnancy. You can get your nails done.

    da? dat?

well im not gonna start with ur grammer cuz that wasnt the question but damn girl its THAT and THE..

but put some hot sauce on your fingertips
    Steps:

1.Confront your problem. Get a camera and take some pictures of your bitten fingernails. Examine your nails, and list their problems.

2.Visualize yourself with healthy nails, and how great they will look.

3.Pick at least one nail to ';protect'; at a time.

*After a few days, an unbitten nail will flourish and reward you. Do not bite it. If you must, bite one of the 'unprotected' ones.

*Once you have grown your unbitten nail for a while, start protecting another one. And another.

4.Record your progress in a notebook or photo album. Take ';before and after'; photos of your nails and put them in the book to keep you motivated. Recognizing that it usually takes takes three weeks to grow nails half a centimeter, chart out in the book how long you want your nails to be by a certain date.

5.Eat calcium- and magnesium- rich foods so that your nails will repair and grow well. Not only that, but most of the reason that the human body wants to bite nails is the lack of calcium and magnesium in the body and the body needs that material back.

6.Push your cuticles back. Many nail-biters do not have ';moons'; on the base of their fingernails because their cuticles have not been pushed back. To do this, gently push your cuticles towards your finger to reveal more of your nail. This is easier to do after a shower when your hands and nails are wet. This makes the nail appear longer, and it gives a more attractive shape, which might also be a motivation to stop biting.

7.Find a habit to take the place of nail biting. Whenever you have the urge to bite, do that instead. Some people like to drum their fingers, or just stare at their hands. Just make sure it's not a bad habit; choose a helpful one or one that doesn't really matter either way. 'Bitrex' is a chemical that is put in products to make them taste foul, obtained from your local pharmacy. It's included in nibble inhibitors that you paint on to your nails. Carry some with you at all times. Apply your nasty solution several times a day. If you get used to the taste, choose another brand.

8.Distract your mouth. Eat carrot sticks to keep you busy. Keep a stick of gum handy for those weak moments.

    No more idle hands..

    9. Distract your hands by taking up a hobby.

A hobby to distract your hands might be making models or maintaining your house, knitting or crochet, running or other outside pursuits, or even nail care and decoration!

For those whose nail biting is obsessive/compulsive it may help to approach your hobby obsessively.

10.Cover your nails. For females, fit artificial nails. They can really help. For guys, polish them and apply some shine/growth promoter or petroleum jelly. It's harder to bite nails that are looking great!

Keep gloves in your back pocket and wear them when you want to bite.

Put little pieces of tape on the ends of your fingers, to remind yourself how destructive biting is.

11.If you have any surplus growth, cut your nails back. Keep clippers with you at all times. You can't bite if there's nothing there!

12.Speaking about your nails will help to focus your mind on your goals. Ask for help from your partner(s). Keep talking about your goals.

Show off your improved nails, and get much-needed encouragement and praise from your peers.

13.Be proud of your improving nails. They will shine with beauty.

14.Go for a manicure, and chat with the manicurist about having great nails.

If you are male and you go in for a manicure and anyone gives you grief for not being manly, just say you are taking radical steps, whatever it takes. That should be manly enough for anyone.

15.Keep looking after your nails, with cuticle oil, shine and growth promoter, and no biting
dip ur finger nails in alcohol. everytime u start to bite, ull stop as soon as u taste it.

u aslo start getting manicures, that u wont wanna ruin. theres also this special stuff

called stop the bite by hoof. u apply that to ur nails and it tastes disgusting!!
    Spend more time on spelling.
There's a really nasty ';no bite'; polish that you can put on your nails that will definately work...
maybe like when you want to stop any bad habit. when you start to bite, get your mind on doing something else. may something you have to use your hands for. some people put a rubber band on their wrist and start to do bad habit, snap it. there is a product you can buy to paint on fingernails to stop. i used it for my daughter to stop sucking thumb. she would wash off and suck away. (smart 2 yr old) not meant in good way. if all else fails, call your family doctor and ask his nurse if she can advise.
buy that nail stuff that you dip your fingers in and it makes your nails taste GROSS!

    it really works
Aghh thats such a bad habit i always do that and then i switched to my knuckles. and now they are all big and swollen but i just leave it to carm down but i stil sometimes bite them. just try and put lotion on it so it wont taste nice and u wil stop biting it
get fake nail and if u bite them off you will get a funguis in ur nail and u dont wont dat do u
Try using this nail habit nail paint thing- u can get it from most drug stores and stuff- superdrug, holland %26amp; barrat etc.

I accidentally cut the quick of my cat's nails, and it hasn't stopped bleeding yet (it's been an hour).

What do I do? I have never had a problem cutting his nails before, (although he can be a little best at times), but a loud noise scared him and made my hand slip. :-(

I called the emergency vet, and they suggested to put some flour or cornstarch on it. Any other suggestions? We have him confined to the bathroom floor with an old towel to lay on so he doensn't bleed all over the rest of the house. I have used compression on his wound, but the blood doesn't seem to stop. It's not like he's bleeding to death, but he definitely needs some help to have the bleeding stop.

I hope he will be okay....I feel so terrible. Any advice?I accidentally cut the quick of my cat's nails, and it hasn't stopped bleeding yet (it's been an hour).
Try not to feel bad, it happens to the best of us.

Tell me about the bleeding. Is it steady? Pulsing? Spotting when he walks? A few drops on the towels?

If it is steady or pulsing, after all this time, you need to go to the vet to cauterize it. You also need to have blood work done. Maybe the cat has a clotting disorder (or other sickness) you need to get a diagnosis on.

If it is spotting or a few drops in the towels. Put baking soda on it. When you are putting any of those powders you were recommended (and all of them will work), you have to pack them into where the blood is coming from. You don't put it on like an ointment. You gotta push firmly so the powder puts pressure into the hole, while it soaks up the blood.

Keep in mind that everytime you fuss with it it breaks the clotting cycle and causes more bleeding. So unless it is still a lot of blood like I said above, try leaving it alone for a half hour. And don't let him walk.

    Good Luck

    EDIT

Don't put on any sort of tourniquet. You will do more harm than good, unless you are trained in using them.I accidentally cut the quick of my cat's nails, and it hasn't stopped bleeding yet (it's been an hour).
Also, he was running around this morning fine on it...I just hope I don't come home to a bloody mess after work. :-( He likes to think he is the Beta cat (I have three), but my younger female always puts him in his place. (i.e., fighting/scratching him).

It should stop. There is nothing the vet can do. just do what the vet said. And you should probably give the poor thing some treats.
take him to the vet maybe you hit vain
Styptic is the best, but the flour or cornstarch should work. If you are truly worried, take him to the emergency vet.
you need to put on your cat a tourniquet using a stick and a bandage. Also you need to put some antiseptic solution like betadine to avoid infections. Call your vet
call the emergency vet again...tell them that you've tried what they suggested and it's not slowing down....tell them that you feel that it's urgent for your cat to be seen. that way, it will put your mind at ease if there is a professional at least looking at it (even if there's not too much that can be done. sometimes certain parts on animals can't be stitched or anything, they just have to heal on their own) and they are better equiped to deal with stuff like that. i'm sure you feel terrible for it. good luck and i hope that they can help your kitty feel better.

most cats will shed their nails on their own without any trimming, but if you really want to do it yourself (i wouldn't but mine are just evil sometimes) then try wrapping him up in a towel or blanket that way you have more control over him. :)
You hit the quick, thats like when your nail breaks below the white part. The vet was right about the flour and cornstarch, you can also use a bar of soap. Put some flour in a shallow dish and dip his paw in it a few times. That should stop it. If not, you must see a vet. An hour is a very long time for him to continue bleeding. Most times a nail is quicked it should stop bleeding on it's own in approx. 5 minutes.
I don't no where you live but I am responding to the warm person who said pets should be outside where they belong. Personally, I think keeping a cat inside is responsible as I have had to clean up my share of cat poop in my own garden.also in certain parts of Canada, it is the law that cats should be kept inside.
yeah, defn. flour or cornstarch like the vet said, its the best to that special powder that vets have. if it gets serious take him to the kitty ER
Call the vet again and tell them it has been over an hour and tell them that it will not stop. Maybe they will have some other ideas. I hope that he will be ok!
If your cat was outside where animals belong you wouldn't be having this problem. Just put a band-aid on it.
Get him to a vet, if you are that worried. He should be fine if you can get him to the vet.
Yes flour or cornstarch like your vet said. Why haven't you done this yet instead of asking all of us idiots on Yahoo Answers?
Dip his nail again in the cornstarch. It should stop it unless it is bleeding heavily. Hope it will stop soon.
USE SUPER GLUE!!! It was originally invented for surgical purposes. Hey, what does it glue together better than anything else?....SKIN! find apiece of nail you trimmed and glue it over the end. as the nail grows it will be able to be trimmed off later.
good God, if it is still bleeding ALOT...go to an emergency vet. Look one up and go. If it's a small amount and the cat is acting fine....burn a candle and get a few drops of wax, let it cool to the touch, that is real important..DO not use it hot or warm...take the COOL wax.....and then press it into the area. It will pact the area and stop bleeding. remember, COOL pliable wax. They use a similar product in surgery for bleeding bone, it works well. hope it works for you
Put baby powder on the wound. that's what my cousin uses on her dog when she cuts its nails and they bleed
You can buy this product and it works wonderfully it IMMEDIATLY stops the bleeding and lets it heal from within SEPTIC POWDER
Put sugar in a cup, hold the paw in it. I mean hold... THe cat won't like it, but it will stop the bleeding. Unfornuately you can't just hold the nail.
if he's bleeding really bad, it's probably something you should actually go see a vet for... especially if it's been over an hour.

usually when that happens to my cats, its only minor bleeding and we just throw neosporin on it or let it clot on its own. then again though it was only minor.

good luck, i hope he's alright
you could try a liquid bandage product

    like Nu - Skin
O.M.G.! If its bleeding that bad take it to the vet. Dont let it bleed to death.
so sad=( take it to the vet.........
actually the vet is right, flour is the best thing to use, good luck.

My dog wont let me cut his nails, how can I get him to calm down so I can do it without being bit?

he never had this problem before, I have had him for 4 years and either I cut his nails or the groomer. All of sudden he snarls and comes close to bitting me every time I go near his foot with the clippers

What can I do with being gouged at the pocketbook.

why is this happening? My dog wont let me cut his nails, how can I get him to calm down so I can do it without being bit?
It seems he may have gotten hurt before. Put a muzzle on him and then be gentle. Always show that it is no big deal for him to get his nails cut. Don't put a muzzle on only when you're going to cut his nails, otherwise he will figure out what is going to happen after the muzzle. Practice putting the muzzle on periodically without his nails being cut.My dog wont let me cut his nails, how can I get him to calm down so I can do it without being bit?
I think Petsmart and Petco trim nails for around $7 which isn't a bad price.

But, you should be able to teach your dog to allow his nails to be clipped. You can try a muzzle, and have someone else help you do the trimming by controlling the dog as you trim.

You can also try just holding and his feet and toes as you feed him treats to get him to associate having his feet handled with getting something good to eat.

Then, don't do too much at one time and be sure you don't cut too much off to cause bleeding. .
did the groomer maybe hurt him or be very rough with him?

start again. Put away the clippers and just get him used to having his feet handled again. Then when he relaxes clip one quickly with sharp clippers and shove a treat into his mouth before he has a chance to decide to be angry again. Do another the next day, another the next etc until he gets used to it again
I had fantastic luck with a device I got at WalMart. It's a rotating sander rather than a pinching clipper, and the dog is much more relaxed about it. It does sound a lot like a vacuum cleaner, though, so that can be an issue with dogs that are sensitive or aggressive toward that noise.

I'll post a link for it below, maybe it will help. Two of my dogs have had issues with nail clippers, and it is a fairly common issue with the terrier family, from what I've read. They have sensitive nails, and unless the clippers are exceedingly sharp, they can pinch and rip the dogs' nails.

Our dog is the same way, she refuses to let us do it, so we take her to the groomers, its 10$ + tip. They say its easier when its not their owners doing it, I have NO idea why though.

Edit: I don't know why I got a thumbs down, lol. Our groomer told us in most cases the dog would rather allow a stranger to do in then the owner and that is all they told me.
make sure you have lots of tiny treats available, and feed him a few as he sniffs and examines the clippers. Put the clippers down and try gently touching his legs and feet with your hand, frequently offering treats. If he doesn't take the treats (but under normal circumstances would), he's still too nervous, and you need to slow down. Touch higher up on his body and legs, and take your time.
Either you or the groomer has hurt his toes at some point. There is actually a nerve growing down toward the tip of the nail and if you clip off too much it will hurt. It can also bleed.

You could try a muzzle for clipping time.
He's probably too old to try to get him to learn to relax at this point, you should have cut his nails as a puppy or at least when you got him. Your best bet would be to bring him to the groomer. Be glad dogs are forgiving creatures :)
HI there, if he is uncomfortable with you touching his paws, it might pay to just get him used to the idea of you holding them without doing anything else. Once he is calm let him sniff the clippers and then have a go.
evidently the groomer clipped to close and hurt him, whether admitted or not. Try a muzzle if you actually fear getting bit or have someone hold his head
my dog is the same way....and when it came down to it..we had to take it in to get them clipped.

it was only liek 5-10 bucks though..nothign gouging

Is it true after you die your hair and nails continue to grow and if so how?

since hair and nails are just dead cells, they will keep growing, to a point. Is it true after you die your hair and nails continue to grow and if so how?
No it is not true.. After death the circulation of blood stops , and therefore there is no feeding to the hair and nails and they die also.Is it true after you die your hair and nails continue to grow and if so how?
Just because vital organs stop functioning (death) doesn't mean that all cellular activity will suddently cease. Tissues will continue to automatically do their job until the stop receiving the necessary fuel %26amp; materials and begin to break down.
They don't actually grow the skin around them thins making it look like they grew.
Actually, no. The skin shrivels and recedes making it appear as if the aforementioned articles are continuing to grow.
STRANGE BUT TRUE . I CANN'T HELP YOU WITH HOW OR WHY.
YES it is true. Not infinitely, but it takes longer than you think for all your bodies functions to shut down completely. Nails are basically just calcium and need little or no oxygen so they will continue to grow for awhile after your body is dead. Same with hair.
Do you honestly expect someone who is alive to have this info.

We have probably heard it but as for knowing if it's true, you will have to wait until someone comes back from the dead to tell you that.
No. The hair and nails need a continuous supply of nutrients to keep growing. Since the blood circulation in the body has stopped, no nurients are supplied.

When a person dies, the soft tissues begin to dessicate (dry out) and as they do the skin shrinks and pulls away from the root of the hair and nails making them appear longer.
    No, they do not.

When you die, your body dries out, causing your skin to shrivel and shrink. One of the places where this is most noticeable is on the hands. The fact that the cuticles and skin on the finger tips shrinks makes it appear like you fingernails have continued to grow, when they actually have not.

The same thing happens on your scalp. Your scalp tissue loses all its moisture, which makes your hair appear longer.

The stories of hair and nails continuing to grow after death are just old wives tales from what people observed in the past. They didn't fully understand the physical changes that happen after death, so they assumed stuff was still growing when it was not.
There is a story about St.Xaviour's body at Goa (India),that the dead body's nails and hair has been growing... I don't belive it. Try asking this question at www.howstuffworks.com
    um no?
yes its true but they dont grow forever. they grow a couple days after you die and it eventually stops
It only seems that way because your skin dries up.
No, the skin shrinks as it dries making it appear as if the hair and nails are getting longer.
I don't know how they still grow, but they do!
    No that is a nyth
This is not true. They just do not decompose as quickly. Some hair/nails is still under your skin, so when your skin is gone, they look longer.

PS that would be creepy if it did grow, wouldnt it?
i don't think so because there is no more life in the dead no more energy to make it grow.

and if they keep growing you would see nails from the grounds

They have sensitive nails, and unless the clippers are exceedingly sharp, they can pinch and rip the dogs' nails.

    https://www.buypedipaws.com/?mid=547821%26amp;鈥?/a>
Our dog is the same way, she refuses to let us do it, so we take her to the groomers, its 10$ + tip.

Try a muzzle if you actually fear getting bit or have someone hold his head
my dog is the same way....and when it came down to it..we had to take it in to get them clipped.

it was only liek 5-10 bucks though..nothign gouging
    will a dog muzzle work?

Was it Religious Conservatives that nailed Christ-to-a-Cross?

Would he have be clean shaven, with a short well groomed haircut and wearing a tie %26amp; suit? Was it Religious Conservatives that nailed Christ-to-a-Cross?
No, actually it was religious fascists who brought Jesus to the attention of the Roman governor, who then put Him to death.

    FASCISM:

1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control

See the references to ';dictatorial leader'; (i.e. Caiaphas), ';centralized autocratic government'; (i.e. chief priests and the elders), ';forcible suppression of opposition'; (i.e. chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to put Jesus to death)... hmmm... sounds like fascism to ME!!!

Oh, and the ';clean shaven, short haired'; and ';suit/tie'; are red herrings, as they were the acceptable ';dress'; of the day.

Republican from before she was born... and PROUD of it.Was it Religious Conservatives that nailed Christ-to-a-Cross?
Jesus's appearance and apparel were likely very similar to the hypocrites who crucified him.

Yes, you could call them ';religious conservatives.'; But it is not fair to equate then with ';religious conservatives'; just because they can wear the same label.

One marked difference is that none of the Christian conservatives of the day are trying to execute someone based on religion.

    There are some comparisons between the Pharasees and the Religious Right, but not based on the fact that they both wear the label ';religious conservatives.';
Well although the established orthodox Jewish community at the time was generally opposed to Jesus' teachings (or else they were probably in the young Christian community), they had only a small part in his crucifixion, even in traditional biblical accounts. Romans, attempting to quell this sudden influx of belief and political sway, made sure to crack down on this so-called ';King of the Jews'; before he became too powerful and incited a riot or led to another rebellion (as the Hebrews were prone to having at the time). And although these Romans were likely followers of Roman religious traditions and devotees of the pantheon or imperial cult, Roman religious belief was generally fairly open to new gods, or foreign gods that could be associated with another established god (as the Egyptian and Greek gods were often seen as different forms of devotion for Roman gods).

So in a sense, you might say that the Romans were religious and, since they favored autocracy and militarism, they could be ';conservative';, although at the time the notion is somewhat meaningless- and given that, you might say that religious conservatives crucified Jesus the Christ.

Of course without his crucifixion, and later supposed resurrection, he would probably have been a lot less popular. Either way, he probably wouldn't have been clean shaven or worn a tie and suit, since although shaving and short hair was popular with Romans it was not with Jews, and the tie and suit didn't come about until the 1800's.

As a side note, following the traditional tales of Jesus' crucifixion, shouldn't Christians be more angry with Italians than they are with Jews? Romans killed Jesus- Jesus was himself a Jew. Just saying.
Oh wow. Talk about stretching to make a point.

And to answer your question, he was clothed and groomed in the style of the day. Modestly, without his clothes bringing attention to himself. Which today would have been what you described with the short hair. Good try tho.

I will agree that most uber conservatives dont know the first thing about being a christian. Oh well. Wearing a tie and having a nice haircut doesnt give you a pure heart.
Yes, which I try so fervently to get the nutters to understand.

But if they could comprehend that, they wouldn't be Christians in the first place.

American Christian Conservatives are the new Pharisees. It amazes me that they can read the bible and not see that. Then again, I don't know many Christians that have actually read the bible.
It was a bunch of Pagans that nailed Jesus to the cross. I can't believe I wasted 10 seconds of my life answering this morons question.

Was it god-less liberals who fought for and passed abortion laws? Ah this is no trick. Of course it was Christian hating liberal scumbags.
Actually the Sanhedrin( Jewish religious leaders,in that time) were more like Saul Alinsky.By the way,I just cut my pony tail off a year ago,and Ive been a Reagan Conservative for years. That kind of blows both of your theories....doesn't it.
That's a tough one. I guess you could cite any example that it could be either conservatives or liberals. Really it was the Romans that whipped and crucified Jesus.
It was Roman soldiers, who were most likely pagans, if they were religious at all. Why would they put him a suit and tie, that particular garb didn't even exist at the time.
No. The Corrupt Jews who called for Christ's crucifixion were not very religious, only in name. Many of them were hypocrites. plz Your questions are too simple to be effectively intelligent.
No it was Romas and Jesus was just another criminal.

    Crosses were cheap deadly jails.

Why people think they are special is strange.

It would be like worshiping Alcatraz or something.

    Christians are not real bright.
    1. No, it was Roman soldiers.

    2. I always thought that proper grooming reflected well on a person.

    I guess you feel otherwise.
You described a liberal to the tee!! Next time though, put him/her in a car, talking on a cell phone just seconds from running down school kids!!
    Roman Soldiers.

The Nazis claimed we Jews were responsible. They called us ';Christ Killers';.
The church had Jesus crucified for telling them they were wrong. Rome controlled Israel at the time so Roman soldiers did the actual deed, at the church's request.
That's two questions neither of which make sense.
    No, it was Roman soldiers.
    Uhh, Nope, never seen him.
Oh dear I'm not even going to go there...Scary!
I don't understand. It was roman soldiers who nailed Jesus to the cross.
i don't think any of us were there...you, however might have been

Remember the 1980's gadget, a plastic box with hundreds of nails on one side. You could push your hand or face in it and it would show on the other side. Midge Ure used them in his video for ';If I was'; . It's on youtube ;)Gadget with metal nails, you can imprint your hand or face in it?
Yes it is called a pin art

    http://toys.roxsuperstore.com/?cmd=id%26amp;as鈥?/a>

The site is safe, I use it all the timeGadget with metal nails, you can imprint your hand or face in it?
You can still get them at Spencer's novelty stores in most American shopping malls...
You can still buy them. Toys R Us I think. I know I've seen them in stores somewhere recently.
YES omg! i saw that at walmart its so frickin HILARIOUS. %26amp; YES you CAN inprint your face in it. : ) Love that thing!

I think that Saturday is still the Sabbath, and that it was not nailed to the cross, anyone agree?

By the way I麓am a Seventh Day Adventist which is Christian, so this is not an issue of Jewish beliefsI think that Saturday is still the Sabbath, and that it was not nailed to the cross, anyone agree?
I think that would have been a real miracle. Nailing Saturday to the cross would have sealed it for me, for sure. Wonder how they missed that one?I think that Saturday is still the Sabbath, and that it was not nailed to the cross, anyone agree?
The old covenant came to an end upon the death of Christ, who was the God of the old covenant incarnate. Paul explains this in Romans 7 using a marriage covenant.

You cannot be held to the conditions of a covenant you were never a party to, and a covenant that ended. The sabbath was the sign of the old covenant.

SDA refuse to believe this, as the entire theology would fall apart, and you would quit supporting them with your money.
Gentiles were never to keep the sabbath. The sabbath was a sign between the Lord and the Children oF Israel only! One needs to be careful here because the Bible tells us that if someone wishes to keep the law, then they are a debtor to keep the whole law which is comprised of 613 different rules. jesus Himself stated that the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. The reason it was discontinued even among the Jewish christians was because all the law had been fulfilled in Christ. You will find reference in the New testament where the disciples, paul and others came together on the first day of the week for breaking of bread and prayers. the reason they changed the day of worship to Sunday was because not only were they free of the law, but they also recognized that day as the day the Lord arose from the dead.

You, as a Gentile, were never instructed anywhere in Scriptures to keep the Sabbath so why do it?
The Sabbath is supposed to be God's day of rest - I say leave God alone on the sabbath you God Bothering Religious Dopes...

Imagine 2-3 Billion lost sheep bleating outside your house on a Saturday or Sunday when you are trying to have a lie in!

Life is to short for Religion (A Man, not God, made futile pastime)...
Think what you want. I've already entered into the rest. Every day is the sabbath for me.

    Hebrews 4:3

    ';For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.';
Apparently you are confusing two different things above. The Mosaic law was nailed to the cross. Feel free to email me soon.

No. I went to see Nine Inch Nails and it was sold out... VERY exciting... Should Trent Reznor run for President?
He's probably as qualified as Obama.
Only if his VP is Toby Keith or Denzel Washington!!
Well..he beats both McCain and Obama in the looks department. Ok, or at least when he was younger.

If Jesus killed a fig tree for not bearing fruit out of season, is it karma that he died nailed to a dead tree?

This question is why I like to read R %26amp; S. It is a good question couched in friendly wit that has almost any combination of rational thoughts as possible answers.

If you care to make an argument against free will or karma I can think of no better example to use than Jesus. If you could prove either it would break a lot more things then just my little piece of reality I think.

I think it is karma - but that you and I are just using different words to say the same thing if I call it ';God's will';. Maybe my interpretation of the words is just too broad though.:)If Jesus killed a fig tree for not bearing fruit out of season, is it karma that he died nailed to a dead tree?
Every time Jesus taught something it was in the form of an allegory. Jesus is using this illustration to point out the fact that God was going to judge Israel.

First, he is predicting that he would cleanse the temple when he drove out the money-changers and those who sold sacrificial animals to pilgrims at inflated prices.

Second, he was predicting the destruction of Israel and the Temple in 60AD. It also indicates that the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem will no longer be a goal of redemptive history.

The allusion to fig trees was often used as a symbol of judgment of Jerusalem and was used in Jeremiah (Jeremiah 24) in this way.If Jesus killed a fig tree for not bearing fruit out of season, is it karma that he died nailed to a dead tree?
    Cute! :)

And funny how these Xians on here don't know their bible, say they never heard of Jesus killing a fig tree or the verses wherein it says Jesus was killed by being hung on a tree. Funny, but not at all unexpected.

    ~Atheist, ex-fundie-Xian, former New Ager
Jesus created the tree in the first place. Is it karma that Jesus was created from a tree? That sounds kind of stupid doesn't it? Why doesn't the karma theory hold here?

You sinned and Jesus died for you. Were is the karma there?
I am not religious at all but why do you have to criticize others beliefs. I get sick of people trying to convince me to believe in something but I also hate when people bash others for their beliefs grow up little man.
That was symbolic of Jesus cutting ';christians'; off that aren't bearing fruit for the Kingdom of God.
Right from the beginning Jesus was telling His disciples that He would be killed and rise up on the third day.

What karma resurrected Him, if any?
Ha. Yes, yes it is. If he hadn't killed that fig tree...

Thanks Salvatore, Happy Litha/Yule - depending on which hemisphere you live in. =]
AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!

    yes.
If you will have no part of the plan that you were created for - you will wither and die apart from Him as well.

    Merry CHRISTmas!
you poor souls must REALY be tormented inside. Especially THIS time of year.
He got what he deserved for being a hypocrite.
Karma doesnt work on Jesus, he was sent to die on the cross intentionally by God.
    Haha, nice.
I have never heard him killing a f*ag tree..
    Haha! Maybe :]
    :X
no there's no such thing as karma
    Hmmmmm...............that's funny
    Haha... no
nope. It was planned out by Him already.
Lol! Yes, it is - ah, the irony makes me smile :)
Mark S - What do you think wooden crosses are made out of?
    lame

How to harden finger & toe nails (if it's possible)?

btw i'm a man so if i have to go buy some nail care crap like a f-a-g then i'll pass

but if i could do something that's already at home or take certain vitamin %26amp; mineral supplements??How to harden finger %26amp; toe nails (if it's possible)?
if you get more calcium that can help, so drink milk and eat a few tums each day.How to harden finger %26amp; toe nails (if it's possible)?
yeah drink milk and stuff like that

or buy opi nail envy in matte so it doesnt look like youve got nail varnish on cause you no, its matte
    More calcium would help.

If Jesus killed a fig tree for not bearing fruit out of season, is it karma that he died nailed to a dead tree?

Of course not! Karma is just a silly fairy tale made up to scare children into behaving!

Oh wait...I'm confused. If Jesus killed a fig tree for not bearing fruit out of season, is it karma that he died nailed to a dead tree?
If he was an omnipotent deity one would think it would have been rather simple for him to make the tree bear fruit instead of killing it in a rage. It's funny how his omnipotentcy seemed to have such strange limitations. If Jesus killed a fig tree for not bearing fruit out of season, is it karma that he died nailed to a dead tree?
Who says that it was out of season, do you think that he was stupid? He knew that there should have been fruit on that tree, but there was not. He will do the same to all who do not bear fruit for the kingdom of God.
    Not Karma, but certainly ironic
yeah it was a plot by tree huggers.

i so love that bit, a tree out of season not producing fruit ha!!!

    jeus is so dumb.
It prolly was the fig tree.
I never thought about that. It seems likely, though.
    Could be.
Wasn't that just a parable? The killing the fig tree?
I'm still trying to figure that out.

  • How much would it cost me to get a set of acrylic nails?

they usually cost like 35 dollars but be ready for an investment, you have to get a fill every 2 weeks to keep them looking good and that costs around 20 dollars and beware, when you take them off, your nails will be trashed! How much would it cost me to get a set of acrylic nails?
depends on where you are goig to go and get them done, usually about 30 to 40 dollars. How much would it cost me to get a set of acrylic nails?
It all depends on where you go. I get mine done for $25 and they look very good.
i don't know where you live, but here in Texas, if you go to a professional place, it usually costs about $25. if you have a beauty college in your city, that will be a lot cheaper. here it costs $8 for acrylics and a french manicure. keep in mind though, they are students, and they can mess up, but i have gone several times, to get my hair cut as well, and never once had a complaint. i even went while i was in labor!! good luck!!!
what's wrong with your real nails?

just take care of the ones you have, that's much more attractive.

uhm, but try searching on google for acrylic nails and the sites should show some prices.

Why does it feel good to get your nails done?

I think it's painful, but whatever. Why does it feel good to get your nails done?
It depends... some people like it and some people don't. I think it is very relaxing and a change from the usual. But... I also think it hurts when they push your cuticles!

Is it true when you die you continue to grow your hair and finger nails?

yes, the dead cells continue to produce nails and hair, but at a much faster rate because every cell in the body is dead.Is it true when you die you continue to grow your hair and finger nails?
Hair and finger nails come from living cells. When people die, all of their cells die, so there is no way that a dead person's hair and finger nails can grow...MaxIs it true when you die you continue to grow your hair and finger nails?
Sure if you are brain dead %26amp; on life support.Other than that,No.Be Blessed! Monica
    no....
Yes I have been told.they carry on growing for up to three months.
Of course not, when you die, every part of you dies with you.
no it is not true. It only appears that way because of the shrinkage of the skin after death.
No. The skin dehyrates, causing the roots of the hair and nails to become exposed, making it appear to grow.
i believe so,but to make sure go dig someone up

Now that Obama had nailed it and McCain was left to pick up the peices and wondering what went wrong, it is ?

times to conduct the postmortems. My own: McCain lost because he was on a mission impossible! Nobody could hope to win (not even Obama himself) as he was hemmed in from the start by the media led by the New York Times and the Washington Post and MSN Video and their associates who sadly had one thing in common: by hook or by crook stop John McCain! Obama himself knew that his opponent had better qualification. During the almost two years campaign, he could not attack McCain on foreign policy or security; honesty, patriotism, economy or experience; so that's why he had to keep linking the GOP candidate to George Bush, hoping the American people's weariness of the Iraq war would result in the rejection of John McCain bid for the White House. Fortunately, it (and the enthusiastic work put in by the like of Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, etc) had worked! This is not to belittle Obama; he ran a better campaign than McCain's, in that whenever McCain's side or anybody attacked him he was quick and never failed to response, which was not the case with the Republican nominee. If you absorbed repeated blows to your creditability, no matter how ridiculous, without a counter eventually your reputation is ruined. McCain should have responded forcefully against Obama's effective weapon against him: ';Vote for John McCain is like a vote for four more years of Goerge W. Bush's failed policy'; from the beginning instead of during the last few days of campaigning. This blunder cost him the presidency. What is your postmortem? Now that Obama had nailed it and McCain was left to pick up the peices and wondering what went wrong, it is ?
The mainstream media showed their bias and it will start their downfall. The people were ';conned'; and made to believe that Obama is the correct course of action but will soon find out that Obama was just playing on their ignorances, and the democrats have an over-abundance of them.

You don't need to learn about socialism in school, you just have to watch it unfold in this country. The people who voted for obama really didn't know what they were voting for. Now they get to experience socialism first hand. Enjoy it you mind-numbed kool-aid drinking idiots.

    *****

Don't listen to BlindGuy, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Besides, take a look at his name and you'll know what he thinks of himself. Now that Obama had nailed it and McCain was left to pick up the peices and wondering what went wrong, it is ?
I credit the victory to the millions of african americans who have never voted before and only voted for O(s)bama because of the color of his skin ( kinda racist on their part ) , instead of his political views .

Look at the points in the campaign where McCain lost ground in the polls. His biggest drop came after Palin.... she gave him a brief boost because she was pretty then we got to know a little bit about her and that boost disappeared.
    Sorry, no. That's not ';what went wrong.';

What went wrong is exactly what you just did in your post: making excues instead of accepting responsibility, and twisting th efacts.. I'll cite two examples:

    a) blaming the media. The media started off positive toward McCain. At the end they were hostile--and McCAin brought that on himself by adopting a campaign strategy based on smear tactics and his running mate's open appeals to bigotry.

    b) McCain's record on foreign policy WAS no more than to follow Bush's lead. that's on the record. And Obama's judgment on such issues has consistently proved correct. Obama could and did criticize McCAiin on this issue. Two specifics: McCain supported--and still supports--continued occupation of Iraq. Well, the waar was a mistake (to put it politely) from the start. Obama oposed it and was proved right. Now--McCain persists in following this failed policy. But al-Caida is NOT IN IRAQ--they are in Afghanistan/Pakistan--were Obama has urged our focus should be for years.

My point is not to rehash all the candidates positions--but to make a point: If the Republicans persist in theier habit of blaing the media, or anythng else, for their own failures, they can expect to continue to become less and less relevant to national politics. The same is especially true if they continue their strategy of smear campaigns and attempts to divide Americans against one another.

If the GOP wants to figure out what went wrong--START by looking in a mirror.

It depends on where you go. The nail salon near me charges 25 dollars for a manicure and acrylic nails, I think a pedicure is about the same. It's not a fancy salon though. If you go to a high end place, it's more expensive. If you go to a little nail place though, it should be 20-30 dollars.

If a child bites and eats its nails will it harm them?

No its not a problem eatin nails, and people worry too much about germs nowdays. I'm 30 years old, and when I was young I remember picking things like sweets off the floor that I dropped, eating my nails, sucking my thumb etc and I never got sick. I think a few germs here and there do people good to be honest and helps build an immune system. People are so insanely clean nowdays and as soon as their kids get near a person with a cold the kid gets it too.

I very rarely get sick, I never get colds, flu etc and have only been to a doctor twice in my life, so it obviously did me no harm!If a child bites and eats its nails will it harm them?
No it will not harm them but I would discourage nail biting as dirt and germs get trapped under the nail and this could be harmful. The child should be taught to wash their hands at least, especially after going to the toilet. Trim the childs nails regularly and keep them short, this may discourage them from biting. If a child bites and eats its nails will it harm them?
probably not. ever since i could remember i have been biting my nails and its never harmed me. I do suggest trying to make him or her stop because its a bad habbit to break. im 18 years old and its kinda embarrasing in job interviews or at school biting my nails.
it won't hurt her,but its an awful habit! i wish someone had made me stop when i was younger.
no but they can get sick from any germs on them

Serious question, how difficult is it for a woman to wipe herself with long nails?

Do you sometimes get the stuff on your fingernails while wiping. I have always been afraid of woman with long fingernails that look a little dirty for this reason. Is this a valid fear or am I just paranoid.Serious question, how difficult is it for a woman to wipe herself with long nails?
LOL! yea it must be hard.thats why i keep them short and natural:DSerious question, how difficult is it for a woman to wipe herself with long nails?
YOU'RE BEING PARANOID. Woman are perfectly cabale of doing anything and everything with long nails. And no it doesn't get under their finger nails. That's nasty
not very, she just gets a naughty man to help out?

  • Is there anything to make my nails grow faster? ,& how long does it take for them to grow out naturally?

i dont know the first answer, but they do grow a whopping .1 millimeter a day, so in about 3 months, your nail will be one more centimeter, talk about long!Is there anything to make my nails grow faster? ,%26amp; how long does it take for them to grow out naturally?
Go out and buy yourself Sally Hansen clear nail growth polish. It works really well, and it doesn't make you want to bite them or anything (that's my habit). To grow out naturally, they can take about 2 weeks for a new line of nail (for me at least). It differs with everyone, but generally quite quick. Is there anything to make my nails grow faster? ,%26amp; how long does it take for them to grow out naturally?
I would suggest doing some research into 'Horse Tail' (it can be found at places like Whole Foods). I used it when I was younger, but don't know if any new info has been found. I would also start taking Omega-3s.

Is it gay when a guy paints his girlfriend's nails?

haha cause i asked my boyfriend to paint my nails with my pink polish

and he did!! i didnt think he would do it;)Is it gay when a guy paints his girlfriend's nails?
Definitly not! Him painting your nails just for you shows how much he loves you and trusts you. It doesn't matter what color the nail polish is, the only thing that you should know is he did it because he loves you!Is it gay when a guy paints his girlfriend's nails?
No, I'd find it silly and be like =]. The whole time. Aw, i wish i had a boyfriend. Hah.

But yea i'm surprised he did it but kind anot. haha.

I know some guys and well an old best friend paints his nails black. He can do it better than me. I suck at painting nails but he calls himself emo and also can put eyeliner on better than me. i just suck at both. haha. He is not gay.

But no its not gay. =]. Be happy you have a great boyfriend it sounds like.
Psh I wish my bf would paint my nails. (Assuming he had a steady hand and wouldn't paint all over my skin too) I can't paint with my left hand so one hand looks good and the other looks, well not as good, so having him to it would be awesome. Next time I think I will ask him... thanks for the idea!

No, it is not gay, if he loves you, he'll do almost everything for you. There are thousands of guys nowaday doing nails for living, that they're not gays.

but if he commented that the Cupid's Blush would be way more flattering than the Diamond Rouge nail polish...you're in for trouble!

    haha
No it's not gay. Most heterosexual men will do whatever it takes to get into your pants.
No, but he prolly was incredibly uncoordinated at it unless he practiced before lol.
A guy is gay if he likes another guy. He is a bit odd. Maybe, he likes feet.
    It's only gay when a girl paints her boyfriend's nails pink. ( ^ _ ^ )
No that's a cool boyfriend. Any guy who says otherwise is probably like 15 or younger.
No, I sometimes do it for my wife. She gets mad because simetimes it gets all crooked.
not at all but if he asks to help with the dishes while wearing an apron, you may have cause for concern.
He鈥檚 just doing what you said, if he chose to do it without you asking, than that would have been gay
nah its not gay but it could be considered feminine
No thats not gay hes just helping you out. Thats sweet.
Not at all. I think it's cute he was actually willing to do such a thing for his girlfriend.
Naw, he is cool with his manhood and SMART men ALWAYS make women happy.

Has anyone ever tried artificial toe nails. Was it successful??

I use to work as a cosmetic consultant and I know alot of people wore them for prom and stuff.

They seem to work just as you would expect, but its rather silly if you ask me.Has anyone ever tried artificial toe nails. Was it successful??
I HAVE THEY NEVER WORKED THEY R TO LONG AND THEY BUGGED THE CRAP OUT OF ME I FOUND IT TO BE BETTER IF YOU LET YOUR OWN GROW OUT AND GET A PEDICURE AND HAVE THEM MAKE THEM SHAPE THEM AND PAINT THEM THE WAY U WANT THEY CAN PUT THE WHITE UNDER THEM IF THAT IS WHAT U WANT

My gf wants to paint them but says they need to be longerI need to grow my nails long. Girls, how long does it take for them to be a nice elegant length, not too long?
I can usually get decent length nails in about a month.

I've heard that the grow faster if you keep tapping them on a table. I don't know if it is true or not.I need to grow my nails long. Girls, how long does it take for them to be a nice elegant length, not too long?
It really depends on the person.

My sister's nails grow quick and look beautiful when they are grown out. Mine look TERRIBLE when they are long, since they grow out funny (warped, uneven, etc).

I would think you could get them a decent length in one to two weeks, but heck, you should just keep them at a length YOU like that is comfortable.

    Good luck!

I have this habit of biting my nails.. it doesn't look that bad .. my bf says they look cute but then i can

never get a french manicure cuz my nails are too short ..so if my bf thinks its fine and so do i .. is there any good reason to stop ?

u should stop because if they get too short bacteria gets inside them and u can get infections
i use to bit my nails all the time when i was bored but i let them grow out now DO NOT GET FRENCH TIPS ON YOUR NAILS it ****** up your nails and makes them softer and all that good **** if you want you nails done with a french manicure make sure its only on your natural nails let em grow

I just got fake nails put on, and I don't want to pay to get them refilled. Is it possible to buy the filling

Yeah so I want to keep them but I would rather just fill them myself when they grow. Is it possible to buy nail filler from like, target or sallys or anywhere?I just got fake nails put on, and I don't want to pay to get them refilled. Is it possible to buy the filling
sallys has stuff, but if you dont know what you are doing, you can make chemical burns on your nail beds and cuticles. You cant mix products. its going to look bad, and might even hurt bad. I suggest you just get them filled in or take them off. If you do it wrong you can get a fungus underneath your nail and your real nail can become blakish blue or green and possibly fall off. DO NOT mess with this, it might seem harmless but thats why you have to be licensed in the field to apply acrylic to someones nails. Trust me I went to school for this and I am a licensed nail tech. I wish i could show you some pictures, because nail fungus isnt something you want to mess with.I just got fake nails put on, and I don't want to pay to get them refilled. Is it possible to buy the filling
Probably not. When you go to the salon, they drill them, fill them and so on. You have to have the proper utensils.
it is possible. however you need the essentials tools and skills to do it. you need to not only be able to apply the acrylic to fill the nail. You need to know how to sand it down and buff it out so that it is left islky and smooth with no ridges or bumps.
You can buy it at beauty supply stores but it is really hard to do and get it to look right. A fill is only about $10. If you do it chances are you will ruin your nails.
You can get the fill powder @ just about any drug store, but it is really hard to do on yourself and you really don't get all the necessary tools to make it look good. I know it sucks having to pay to get your nails filled, but in the end they look so much better, I know this from personal experience.
You can buy it, but it is very difficult to make them look as good as the nail salon.

You can get it anywhere, the drugstore, Wal Mart, wherever. Sally Hansen makes one.
yea its possible but you wont get it from sally's cause you have to a license....and why would you want to do the fill yourself?????? it wont look as good cause i'm sure you have no idea of what you are doing.....just stop and go back to the salon....that makes NO sense to me....if you didnt want to pay to maintain them they why did you get them?????

  • My son has a bearded dragon & it's nails are getting long...do they need to be trimmed or left alone?

    hello,

as the former owner of a 5 foot iguana, i can definatley say trim the dragon's toenails! your vet of exotic animals can do this or you can do it yourself by wrapping the lizard in a big towel to make the job easier. i would advise the vet do it however. also available at your exotic vet are plastic toenails in many colors tht slip right over the lizards own trimmed toenails and glued on with super glue. our own iggy sported a hot pink set. it cost about 20.00 to have them applied. i have also seen them available in some pet shops if you're feeling brave! jenMy son has a bearded dragon %26amp; it's nails are getting long...do they need to be trimmed or left alone?
They should be trimmed if they're getting too long. You don't want to get scratched by one of those. If you don't know how to trim them your vet should be able to.

Will it traumatize my guinea pig to get her nails cut at the vet?

if its not even necessary i dont want to do it, but her nails do look pretty long...Will it traumatize my guinea pig to get her nails cut at the vet?
No it will not traumatize her. She may be mad for a few hours but that is it. When I have guinea pigs I always got their nails clipped at the vet since I was too chicken to do it myself. Will it traumatize my guinea pig to get her nails cut at the vet?
um i dont think so.....i have 3 rabbits,

and it might be easier for your guinea pig if you clipped them yourself.

    and it would be cheaper.

if they are getting long they need to be cut because eventually it will

make it to where they will be walking sideways on there toes.....

(thats what happend to my rabbit..... they get very uncomfortable.)

if you go to petsmart or wal-mart you can buy some rabbit or guinea pig nail clippers for 4 or 5 dollars and usually they have instructions on how to clip there nails.

but if they look long they problaby are.....

    well good luck!!!

    hope it helps!!!!!!!!!!!!

Acrylic nails on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!! Please read it. I need tips?

I am getting some on saturday

Can you please give me tips on how to keep them nice and clean, andgood looking, so that they are not ruined before I get them filled. Basically, just tips to make them last longerAcrylic nails on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!! Please read it. I need tips?
First of all, for the poster who said that acrylics will leave big grooves, this is not true. The grooves, or rings that you see is from two things: Improper use of an improper drill (Dremels are used in the Asian salons - AKA, discount salons - they are made for woodworking, and NOT for use on nails). A qualified, well trained and experienced nail tech will NOT cause damage to your nails. DIscount salons are notorious for doing this type of damage. Also, a true nail professional will never use a Dremel. They will use, if they don't hand file (isially the preferred method), a high quality electric file. In terms of cost, a Dremel costs them about $50, a good electric file will run anywhere from $300-$500 , and more. You can easily tell the difference between them. If you see a small, round shaped, black drill hanging upside down on a hanger, it is a Dremel. An electric file is usually a small rectangular shaped box which fits on the nail table, and does not hang from anything.

You should stay far away from these 'discount' salons. You will know that it is a discount salon if: They have ridiculously low prices ($15-$25 for full sets, and $10-15 for fills), no appointment is necessary - entirely a walk-in basis, there is a BIG language barrier - read: you cannot maintain a conversation with them, nor ask them any questions (not always the case, but usually it is this way), they use the same, dirty files and implements for each customer, and so on. They do more damage than good.

My advice is to make sure that you are going to a reputable, licensed nail technician who is experienced, and well trained, and also has good sanitation practices. You are NEVER supposed to use a file on another client which has touched the natural nail of someone else, for example. Also, good salons require appointments, and also charge more because the service is better, the nail products are top quality, and are in marked containers with the label easily seen. (the discount salons use cheap garbage for acrylic products and use unmarked containers for their liquid and powders) among other things.

To answer your question, you simply need to take good care of your new nail enhancements. You should not use them as can openers! Avoid banging them against things. Be gentle on them. Also, if you are getting acrylic nails, they are made of a porous material. With that said, they will absorb things readily. So, if you choose to use polish, especially dark colors, always use a basecoat. If you do not, then the color can stain your nails. Be sure the technician applies it as well. The best basecoat, IMO, is made by Creative Nail Design and is called ';Stickey'; For pink %26amp; whites, you can either buff them to a high shine (if they do not use a UV top coat, or any other topcoat), or you can apply a high quality topcoat every few days to keep them looking nice and shiny. By high quality, I mean brands like OPI, Essi, China Glaze, Color Club, and there are a few more. Avoid the cheapies. But in my own opinion, I think that, hands down, the absolute best topcoat is ';Seche Vite Dry Fast Topcoat'; (excellent shine, fast drying). And runner up is ';Out The Door';. These are the two best, IMO.

Using cuticle twice daily will help your nails stay in shape too. A very good one is ';Solar Oil'; from Creative Nail Design. You can find this in drug stores like CVS, about $9 a bottle. Put a couple drops on each nail and rub it into your cuticle area, and into your nails too. It will penetrate the nail, and help to keep it moisturized.

Hope this helps. And have fun! Remember, getting your nails done should NEVER be painful in any way at all. Ever. If the nail tech is causing you any pain (usually from improper filing), you are not getting them done correctly, and chances are that the tech is simply not qualified to do the job right. Do not let them use a 'Dremel' on your natural nail. This will cause damage to it. This is THE cause of the 'grooves' I mentioned earlier.Sometimes it can create a lot of damage which will take forever to heal. If it happens, you will often be able to see what are called ';rings of fire'; through the acrylic nail. They look like semi-circular rings which are close together, and are mostly found at the cuticle area. Don't let this happen to you. They might tell you they have to do it to make the acrylic bond to the nail. That is bull. All that is needed is a little bit of gentle hand filing. Just enough to take the shine off of the natural nail, and no more than that, or you risk damage, and even the possibility of infection of the nail plate. And that can take months to recover from.

Just make sure you are going to a good, reputable salon. Trust me, keep far away from the discount salons. They are NOT worth the risks you will take by going to one.Acrylic nails on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!! Please read it. I need tips?
I would suggest getting some gel nails in the do it yourself section. These are nice looking and pretty durable. The difference is they won't ruin your nails. Acrylic will leave big grooves and stuff when you take them off. They can really mess your nails up. Go to Wal-Mart and look at all the different options. There are other things you could consider
