Bought a pedipaw to clip my dogs nails, she is so scared of it, tried treats as suggested .what can I do?

This is an almost universal problem with the Pedipaws. The biggest mistake owners make is trying to file the dog's nails right away. You need to introduce the tool to the dog slowly. Don't even put it near their foot until they show no signs of fear. Then try putting the file on the dog's nail while it's not turned on. If they're still scared once you get to the filing step, then there's not much hope and you'll have to go back to traditional clippers.

I use a regular human file on my dog, and it works just fine, only a little slower. Sally Beauty Supply carries a large, very coarse grain file that handles dog nails beautifully.

NOTE: be careful if you have a long-haired dog, the hair can get wound up in the rotary tool and cause the dog considerable pain. Wetting the hair on the foot solves this problem.Bought a pedipaw to clip my dogs nails, she is so scared of it, tried treats as suggested .what can I do?
When we first brought our little puppy home he would squeal and scream and wiggle away whenever we tried to clip his nails. He didn't like his feet to be touched so my mom started giving him massages on his back, legs, then feet. She'd just hold him in her lap on the floor and rub his back and feet and stuff. I know that sounds so weird but it completely worked! Now our dog is 115 pounds [he's a great dane mix] and i can play with his feet or ears or anyhting and he wont freak out. Its good to get your pet used to being touched, just like you have to socialize them. Try just holding your dog, and get her used to having her feet touched. She'll like having her feet rubbed and so once you do bring the clipper into play she'll associate getting her nails trimmed with getting a food massage :PBought a pedipaw to clip my dogs nails, she is so scared of it, tried treats as suggested .what can I do?
Try petting your pup til she is relaxed then introduce the pedi paw (with out turning it on ) let her sniff it and get used to it then let her go. Next time do the same and turn it on... let her sniff it and check it out, then rub her belly with it on. once she is used to the sound of vibrate it on her paw but not on her nail. Remember to do each step seperately and let her relax in between. eventually the sound will not be as frightening and she might actually enjoy it.
you could clip her nails when she is a sleep and first pet her and wait when she gets calm you clip her nails! or ask for somebody pet her when you clip her nails or get her to the vet and give the nail clip back! not the best thing to do but if she is really scared she could move when you are clipping and hurt her.

hope I help.
Do it when they are sleeping if that doesn't work take her to a vet! Hm! it might also depend on what kind of dog she/he is! if your dog is small then she/he might think the nailclippers are scary and big! if it's a big dog she/he might think it's going to cut her/him! Well all I can say is good luck and happy happy holidays!
well it is really hard to break in a dremel when you have not broke it in when they are puppies. I would suggest getting a friend to hold your dog and I mean HOLD people are not harsh enough on their dogs. And just dremel the tips of the nail and give TONS of cookies. Gradually do more and more. If the dog runs when the sound comes on then just turn it on set it down and do nothing. Let it get used to it. Then hold the pedi paws and let it get used to it. Good luck!
if your using the traditional clippers that cut the nail then your more than likely cutting to far and hitting a nerve. there is a new type of nail trimmer it uses a rotating sander basically and removes as much as you want with no pain
I just kept turn it on around my dog and putting it on her paw without actually trimming her nails i did it for about 3 days and how she lifts her paw when she sees it
