Is it normal that my dog bites his toe nails?

out of nowhere he starts biting his toe nails, like if he was desperate, or if like if it was itching or something, is this normal? Is it normal that my dog bites his toe nails?
It's perfectly normal for a dog to occasionally bite their nails. My dog sometimes chews on his foot, and I know a huge amount of dogs who do the same thing. (I've actually had several conversations about it on a breed-specific forum.) Some dogs seem to want to trim their own toenails. Others seem to do it out of boredom, or because they simply enjoy it. Others may have an itch.

If he does this very often and is biting his entire foot, not just his nails, then that is a problem and you should see your vet. Dogs who constantly chew their foot often have allergies. He could have an inhalant allergy; allergens include dust and dust mites; pollens from trees, weeds, grasses and other plants; molds; mildew; animal or human dander, including wool; and insects. He could have an allergy to his food or shampoo. (Allergies can develop at any time.) His paws could be irritated from cleaners like Swiffer, air fresheners or carpet cleaners. If he seems to be constantly biting at his paws, take him to the vet to find out what the cause is.Is it normal that my dog bites his toe nails?
Actually I have heard that many dogs do this and it is perfectly normal. This is how they used to keep their nails short when there were no clippers. Some dogs will eat their nail clippings if you don't clean them up.
I have a dog who does this. They are actually trimming their own toe nails.
i've never heard of this... they are probably bothering him cuz my 4 dogs have never done this and i dont know anyone else whose dog does either
well they must hurt or something i would take him or her to the vet and get it checked out
A lot of dogs do this, it's normal. it's just them keeping thier nails from growing
this isn't normal. he could have an infection. check his paws over and ask your vet about it.
