Is it to early to cut a dogs nails at 5month ?

my dogs nails are really long they go for walks every day but they dont seem to be going down is it to early to clip theyrre nails at 5month old ?%26gt;X many thanksIs it to early to cut a dogs nails at 5month ?
Nope it's not too early, I had my pups nails clipped at 9 weeks by a groomer, only problem was they clipped her quick and she became afraid of having her nails clipped to the point I couldn't do it I had to have the vet's office do it for me and the racket she would make you would have thought that they were cutting her open with no anesthetic.

It took me months to get her to the point where she would allow me to clip them now I use a dremmel tool, you can get them really short and not have to worry too too much over cutting the quick as it pushes back as you dremmel. I would recommend having the nails dremmeled rather than cutting, cutting is painful for a dog and you might give him phobias about having his feet handled.

Just work on holding and handling his feet, massage them, run your fingers between his toes and pretty much play with them so he gets used to having them handled.

Good luckIs it to early to cut a dogs nails at 5month ?
Not really, but use Petepaw, or whatever its called, no matter what you cannot injure your dog's nails. It doesn't get too close, as dogs have sensitive nerves in the nail, and vains, to prevent injury, buy petepaw, its easy to use, its practically impossible to hit the nerves and vains, no struggle after your dog gets use to it.

There is no reason for paying so much money for a groomer, when the groomer has an 20% chance of hitting the nail. The vet has the same, so good luck with your puppy.
Hate to tell you this but the breeders start doing nails of pups at 7 weeks as if they leave it to later the dog will react violently to this and it is hard to then do the clipping of nails. The age your pup is it should have its nails clipped although if you are walking it everyday for at least a good period of time l am surprised they need to be clipped.Have a good look at the nails and see whether they are curling or look like talons and see where the quick is and that will determine whether they are too long.Good luck as you will need it and if you intend to do it get someone to help you initially and do it when the pup is sleepy or drowsy and do it very gently and do not make a fuss over it otherwise you will create problems in the future.Keep a cake of soap hand as if the nail bleeds this will stop the bleeding and it looks worse than it actually is although the pup will never forget
Nails should be clipped when a pup is very young so they get used to nail clipping and don't freak out about it.

Be careful when you clip and just take off a tiny amount from the tip of the nail. You don't want your puppy having any bad experiences with nail clipping or you'll have a lifetime of trouble.
you can clip a dogs nails as early as six weeks if you wanted to. there is no reason why you can't. they earlier you get them started the better they will act. be careful doing it by yourself as you can hurt them by cutting the nail to short. take the dogs to the groomer and have them teach you. good luck
There is no reason you cannot clip his claws now, there is not an age limit. Be careful when cutting them and make sure you avoid the quick. If you've not done it before, it might be wise to get a veterinary nurse or a groomer to teach you how.
Yes - It's fine, in fact, the earlier you get them used to nail clipping, the better!

If you've never done nails before %26amp; you're not sure how much to cut, the best thing to do is have your Vet or a Groomer show you how to do it.
no clip the tips when u notice them curling or tapping on the floor. get him use to it and it will be a lot easier as he gets older. try to trim them every mth and get a good dog file to make them nice and smooth.
Should be started at TWO WEEKS!!!!

Repeat as necessary.
yes but maybe at 6 months
