My dog's toe nail is croked and growing to the side...how can I fix it?

Her nail is growing to the side and not straight and she is stepping on the side of the nail filing it as she walks and it is very thin now and it's almost close to the paw, while the nail keeps growing to the right. I trim the tip of the nail which doesn't touch the floor because its croked but it doesn't help it just makes it smaller but the nail is already croked. what should i do? She is a senior so i don't think my doctor would want to make surgery and remove nail. I don't know if it hurts when she walks. My dog's toe nail is croked and growing to the side...how can I fix it?
You can't really fix it unless it is so bad that your vet may have to remove the entire nail. Otherwise, you will just have to be diligent on keeping it trimmed. My dog's toe nail is croked and growing to the side...how can I fix it?
You should always try taking her to the vet.The vet might be able to fix it. If it causing her pain the vet would know and since it is a senior you might have to put her to sleep. That is always sad, but just know that Would you want to be in pain that you can't fix. She might be ready to go to god.
As I'm not able to see exactly what's going on here (nor is anybody else) I think the only thing to do is go discuss it with your vet. He will be able to assess what needs to be done for her comfort, and whether she's likely to be a safe candidate for surgery at her age.
I have an older dog that has that and I think it is Arthritis. I do my best to try to keep it trimmed, but it is terribly crooked. I don't want to put her thru too much, because of her age - just ';let it be'; and keep it as trimmed as you can.
As dogs get old this often happens because of less activity. The best you can do is to keep it as short as possible without cutting the quick. You could also consider taking the dog to a groomer/vet and ask what they think should be done.
It might be because she has not had enough walks on concrete

and her nail has probably grown inwards I knew someone who's dog had this.

Take her for long walks on concrete it should get her nails down but if shes in pain (you'll know by just squeezing her nail she wont like it) then you should take her to get them cut by the vet
You should try to file it down a little bit.

If your dog doesnt' seem to be favoring the paw, it most likely isn't painful to her.
Go to the vet and see what he can do to fix it. Ask him if it will hurt her.

It is time to stop treating her yourself.
Be a responsible pet owner and take her to the vet. They may need to remove the nail.
