The dog isnt going to bleed to death. If you didnt have any Stypic powder in the house when you began, your basically going to have to leave it alone. If you dont want the blood everywhere. Hold the paw with a warm, wettened towel. press your finger with the towel directly onto the nail and hold it there for about 2 to 5 minutes. Then slowly and gently remove the towel and pressure. Next time before cutting, buy some cheap stypic powder or Quickstop. Also becareful how far your cutting. You should only be cutting the tips off if the claw is black. If the claw is white you can clearly see the pink toe and totally avoid it. If you continue cutting there toe:


#1 you can ruin and destroy the nail where it doesnt grow back, and cause cronic pain in that foot because of it. (not if you only do it minor once)


# 2 the dog is going to HATE getting his nails clipped you going to give him a nail cutting complex!!!


Watch your babies tooties, they are very sensitive!!! OUCHY

If you cut a nail and it bleeds, immediately apply some styptic powder and a small amount of pressure to the end of the nail.

A pinch of flour applied to the end of the nail will work but more effective is a product like Kwik Stop that is designed especially for that purpose. You can find it at your local pet supply store and a tiny container will last a long time.

If you have corn starch, press some of that on the cut - it will help stop the bleeding and help it clot.





Also, try to keep the dog still for a while so it has a chance to be undisturbed and set up.
This happened to my pup the last time I had her groomed. Go to the pet store or even Walmart/Kmart etc. and find quickstop or something similar...have someone keep pressure on the wound while you're gone if possible to slow bleeding.
quick stop is what i use. you can buy it at the pet store... but no, i don't know if it will stop on its own and u may want to use something to stop the bleeding. sry.
It would take too long to get to a petstore--use flour and cake it on the bleeding nail.

Use a stepic stick it will stop the bleeding right away and prevent infection. You can get one at any drug store. They sell them at he pet store too, but why spend the extra money for the same product.
Use flour. Just put the dogs foot in a container of flour and leave it there until the bleeding subsides. It is important not to remove the flour for about 1/2 our so that the bleeding does not start again. It's messy, but it works.
you should take him to the doctor or buy him some medsin!
best thing you can do is apply direct pressure and coddle/reassure your pet with affection. it will stop bleeding soon enough and be sore for a few days but your pet will be fine!
in a pinch, if you do not have the above ingredients you can always use super glue.
