What is it that makes the SAS as hard as nails and much tougher than anyone the US has?

Is it because they dont shout 'Hurrah' after every order? What is it that makes the SAS as hard as nails and much tougher than anyone the US has?
Whatever anyone else may say, the SAS are acknowledged throughout the world as the best of the best.

And the simple reason is, they are part of the BRITISH Army, the most professional army in the world, whose unique skills are embedded in a history that is ALSO the envy of the world - especially Americans.

No disrespect intended to the USA in any way - Americans are always saying that they regret not having a long history, and of all the special forces in the world, one group has to be the best.

For obvious reasons, the SAS wins the accolade. What is it that makes the SAS as hard as nails and much tougher than anyone the US has?
It's because of the friendly rivalry that we Britons have with the US. Us Britons always want to be the best, but we learn, as do the US special forces - I am sure that we trade info. Don't knock the US - they have different ethics and different combat practices, but I've seen their elite troops and they are scary, as for that matter, are some of the Irish Ranger Wing and some Foreign Legion types from the French Forces that I met.

Just as an aside, I was a cook in the Royal Navy. We have alcohol in our ships, whereas US Navy ships are dry. Once, when a USN ship put in to port near my ship, their cooks came on board my ship to visit. I had an abundance of gin in my stores, but very little quality meat. An exchange was rapidly arranged - that US meat - excellent!
Remember before the SAS became well known, the hard nuts then was seen as the French Foreign Legion. Are they still a force to reckoned with, or has the SAS overtaken them with their actions and various stories from some of their ex-soldiers that has now taken away the surprise?
l o l can you eat a green berry???? or is that a green beret
I would just like to point out that this comment clearly stems from jealousy. Say what you want about America. Your lies will never change the truth.

And its obvious that you know the truth, otherwise you wouldn't have made such a ridiculous and inflammatory statement.
what makes the sas hard as nails,

*its the minium three years in the army where theirs nothing to do other than sports and it drummed into youre head that you have to be fit or you let your unit down which is the worse thing you can do,

*it s cos most sas are ex paras and complete lunatics and pyschopaths

* also due to the six month waiting list for selection their fore soldiers are given less work details and their fore have more time for runs and other activities.

* also the americans seem to associate soldiers with huge muscles like arny which is great for lifting but big muslced men cant run as well and swimmer styled men,

* also once your in to the sas your constantly training and running for fun theirfore they get harder and also as you get in the fitness test get harder so they work harder

but i mainly think its because their crasy paras :)
Severe dental problems. They're mean because of the constant pain in their jaws.
Elite units are what they are. They both can whack you before you know they're there so what's the difference? Why don't you try %26amp; start some other crap %26amp; leave this alone.
i think its cause they are never responsible for any friendly fire incidents
Possibly because it has the toughest selection process, and training regime, both of which can and have lead to deaths so I guess if you survive that then you're one hard B*****d!

But lets not forget the Paras or the Royal Marines.
S uperb troops

A bility to out smart the enemy

S econd to none
Cause there all 5 foot midgets.
TRAINING, is the SIMPLE answer! Firstly, a soldier is trained, - as far as is POSSIBLE, - by his own regiment, - then, - to try to join something like the S.A.S., or S.B.S., - each man must endure an even MORE STRINGENT training course, - designed to ';DAMAGE'; an ';ORDINARY'; soldier! If you withstand THAT, then, - and ONLY THEN, - will the Regiment, even CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY, of allowing you into the ';ELITE';!

However, - if you ARE accepted, - I believe, that you have ONE OTHER thing, to DO, - and, THAT is to put your SIGNATURE, on a little document, known in the UK, as the OFFICIAL SECRETS ACT!

Break THAT, - and you COULD spend the REST OF YOUR LIFE in PRISON!
theyre mental
They get their 'pebbles' from www.pure3design.biz the hardest pebbles known to man.
I have to be fair I love our SAS and our Special Boat Service because they are (in the nicest possible way!) not human! I love the stories of their successes and I love knowing they are out there protecting our sorry asses!!

HOWEVER....

I dont believe they are tougher than the US Special Forces for 1 reason.....you have your Army Navy Royal Marines etc......but a Special Force is exactly that....SPECIAL!!

They encompass the best of the best from each respective country

Now if you are the best of the best in the US or the UK or any other country for that matter you are one badass mofo to me and God bless you for it cos I havent got the guts to do their job or anything like it!!!!
WHAT ABOUT THE GURKHAS,ASK THE ARGENTINIANS DURING THE FALKLANDS WAR.THE GURKHAS CUT THEIR BITS OFF WITH THE KUKRI SWORD.
theyre do more action
The SAS is tough, but the Seals an Delta Force are great, also.
I think they are better because they spend less time blowing their own trumpet and get on with the job.How often do you see an SAS man on the TV bragging.Switch on the History channel it is constant documentaries how the US spec ail forces took Iraq by themselves they don't even acknowledge their own conventional forces were there!
There's no ';Hurrah.'; It's ';Hooah'; in the Army, more of a ';Hooyah'; in the Navy, or ';Oorah'; if you're a Marine.

And you have obviously never met a Navy Seal or someone from Delta Force.
It's the tea and crumpets...
Of course, the SAS and SBS are among the best units in the world... but I wouldn't knock the US Delta Force or Navy Seals...

I'd say they're all about equal ... and of course they train and work together regularly on operations too.
their training, they get to pich the best of the best, thats why they are so good
No special forces are that good just send for the A Team.
Personally I think US spec ops are better, I mean the SAS is really good and is definitely up there.

Not to mention the Russian Spetsnaz, of whom I have seen training videos for and they are possibly the craziest of the bunch. But then again its a country that allows soldiers to be hit by their instructors (while its not really done much anymore.)
